Qatar hails UN decision on Yemen coalition

Qatar has welcomed the UN Secretariat’s decision to remove the Arab pro-legitimacy coalition in Yemen from the list of violators of children’s rights during conflicts and wars.
A Foreign Ministry source said the decision to remove the Arab coalition from the UN secretary general’s report on children and armed conflict came after the UN Secretariat concluded that the information the report was based on was inaccurate and not objective.
The source reiterated that member-states of the Arab pro-legitimacy in Yemen led by Saudi Arabia are fully committed to the international law and international humanitarian law, stressing that the main task of the coalition is to protect civilians, including children, the restoration of legitimacy, and providing humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

QC distributes aid to Yemeni refugees

Qatar Charity (QC) yesterday inaugurated in  Mogadishu  a project to support Yemeni refugees in Somalia.
The project includes the distribution of more than 300 food baskets, and the provision of food and health services over six months, in addition to furnishing of classrooms for refugee students and the provision of water desalination device and build tents.
Acting charge d’affaires at Qatar’s embassy in Somalia, Hasan bin Hamza Asad Mohamed, took part in the inauguration which was attended by the mayor of Mogadishu and governor of the Banadir region Yousuf Hussein Jimaale, MPs at the Somali parliament, and charge d’affaires at the Yemeni embassy in Somalia.
Meanwhile, Somali parliament speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari has met the acting charge d’affaires at Qatar’s embassy.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two fraternal countries and means of boosting and developing them on all fronts.

Ministry releases real estate sales figures
The total trading value of real estate sales contracts registered with the Land Registry Department of the Ministry of Justice during the period May 29 to June 2 was QR294,92,642.
According to the weekly bulletin issued by the department, the real estate sales included empty plots of land, houses, flats, and a residential complex.
The sales were distributed over the municipalities of Doha, Umm Salal, Al Khor, Al Dhakira, Al Rayyan, Al Dhaayen and Al Wakrah.

Minister honours graduates of 11th course of imams, khatibs

HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari honoured the graduates of 11th qualifying course of Qatari imams and khatibs during a ceremony held on Monday night at the ministry’s headquarters.
The honorees included 16 Qatari imams and khatibs who took part in the qualifying course, held from February to May, in addition to lecturers of the course.
Commenting on the occasion, Director of Mosques Department and Head of Dawa and Guidance Department Mohamed Hamad al-Kuwari said that the qualifying course is part of a series devoted to Qatari imams and khatibs that began in 2005.
He noted that 16 imams and khatibs took part in the 11th course where they received lectures in Fiqh, Aqeedah, Arabic language, oratory skills and Tajweed.
The number of Qatari imams and khatibs have reached more than 200 who received scientific and practical qualification, he said, adding that the number is expected to increase in the coming years.
He underlined the ministry’s keenness to attract and encourage Qatari imams and khatibs in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership, noting that the ministry has allocated incentives and rewards amounting up to QR7,000.
At the end of the ceremony, HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs awarded certificates to the graduates in the presence of a number of officials at the ministry.

Ministry of  Awqaf opens 10 new mosques
The Department of Mosques at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has opened 10 new mosques that can accommodate more than 7,000 worshippers in different parts of the country.
The ministry said in a statement that the new mosques are located in Madinat Khalifa North, Al Muntazah, Al Sudan, Bin Omran, Al Wakrah, Umm Sanim, Umm Ghuwailina, New Al Khulaifiat and Hazm Al Markhiya.
The new mosques include praying areas for women worshippers and houses for Imams.
The Mosques Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs takes into account the requirements of green buildings and sustainable buildings, rationalising the use of electricity and water, and the preservation of heritage aesthetics in the mosques designs, reflecting the authenticity of the Qatari and Islamic heritage according to the highest standard.
