HSBC Qatar has hosted 11 high school students for a special Job Shadow Day at the bank’s headquarters in Doha.
The joint effort between Injaz Qatar and HSBC gave the students the opportunity to learn more about the banking and finance industry in an attempt to broaden their knowledge and help them with future career decisions.
The students had the opportunity to meet Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, CEO of HSBC in Qatar, during a special interview session in his office.
“Although banking and finance is a well-known career option, it also offers a big spectrum of different work streams and is constantly evolving to address demands of the consumers,” he said. “We were excited with the opportunity to demonstrate to these young talents where they could potentially fit in such a large and diverse corporation.”
Senior managers from the bank shared presentations with the group covering the different divisions, businesses and functions within the bank.
The students had the opportunity to ask questions and get a better understanding of the systems and processes
within a financial organisation.
They also learned how various business teams served different customers and how functions supported businesses to reach their objectives.
Many of the students showed an interest in a banking career in the future and would have the opportunity to apply for a sponsorship with the bank once they commenced their university studies.
“The Job Shadow Day is a very important programme at Injaz Qatar as it familiarises students with the corporate environment and prepares them to make their career choices. I would like to thank HSBC Bank for their commitment to develop students’ skills and help them take informed decisions about their professional future,” said Emad al-Khaja, CEO of Injaz Qatar.
HSBC has been a founding partner of Injaz in Qatar, which started its operations in the country in 2007. Since then, the bank has been involved in different programmes with the support of staff volunteers, a statement notes.
