AZF to launch Ramadan Sports Festival tomorrow

Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) is currently putting finishing touches to this year’s Ramadan Sports Festival (RSF), a two-week sporting event that forms part of Aspire Zone’s wider Ramadan Festival, offering people across Qatar access to some great sporting events during the holy month of Ramadan.
This year’s RSF, due to launch tomorrow, will kick off with men’s tournaments such as football and basketball, ladies’ tournaments including tennis, and an Aspire employee Futsal tournament. A wide number of community members will also take part in a walking competition around Aspire Dome.
The football tournament will kick off at the Aspire Zone Warm Up Track with an exciting match between team Aspetar and team Nigeria, which will be followed by a match between Al Shabab and Galaticos. Other matches will continue for another six days until the final stages of the competition on June 16 and 17. The tournament will witness the participation of 12 teams with 15 players per team.
The opening day of RSF will also witness the launch of the basketball tournament at the multipurpose hall of Aspire Dome with the participation of 12 teams of eight players each that will compete over five days. The opening match will start at 9:30pm between Doha Ballers and the Syrian team, while the Oryx team will face the Doha Elite Fig in the second match of the evening at 10pm. The matches will continue until the final stages of the tournament around June 15.
In terms of individual sports, the opening day of RSF will witness the launch of the Ladies Tennis Tournament, taking place over the course of three days from Friday to Sunday in Aspire Zone’s outdoor tennis courts over two categories including adult females and junior females.
Tuesday, June 14, will mark the launch of the Beach Soccer Tournament, which is taking place at Aspire Zone’s outdoor sand pitch. The opening day will include four matches, while the finals will take place on June 18.
The Junior Futsal Tournament this year will launch on June 20 and will see participation of 12 teams. The first day of the tournament, which will run over five days and conclude on June 24, will witness the participation of eight teams.
The Ladies Volleyball Tournament will see 11 teams face off for the title starting June 20 in Aspire Dome. The tournament will conclude on June 24.
The Aspire Zone Warm Up Track will also host the first Cricket Tournament starting from June 21 for two days. Six teams will participate in the tournament, with the opening day set to witness a match between Aspire Devils and Aspire Cricket Club, followed by a match between Spartans and Otkilika.
