Learn how to shape clay into objects

Ever wondered how the clay takes different shapes at a potter’s wheel? Or do you just want to feel the soft wet clay and create objects from it. At the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), they are bringing you the chance to experience pottery.
Discover Arabia Performing Arts by Entalek in collaboration with MIA is holding a professional workshop with a trainer from Ukraine in pottery for all age groups.
The Pottery and Ceramic Studio (Discover Arabia Performing Arts) is equipped with the materials needed to learn basic clay techniques including the use of the pottery’s wheel, hand building, forming, construction, surface treatment, and methods to decorate and glaze ceramic ware.
The Pottery Studio is a robust fully-functioning studio that offers classes for all levels and ages. A session lasts for about 3 hours animated by a passionate and professional Ceramic or Pottery artist from Ukraine.
The classes will be held at MIA on June 19-20, and June 22-23 from 8pm to 11pm.
In other activities for Ramadan, Entalek is hosting its regular Kayaking tours. To be held on June 17 and 18 and June 24 and 25, the Potluck Iftar and Sunset Kayaking tour is designed for the holy month of Ramadan.
The participants will have the chance to enjoy a great sunset paddling in the beautiful mangroves of Al Thakhira. After kayaking, they head back to the beach and go for a potluck Iftar where people share their food. There will be a BBQ setup as well.
Entalek provides experiences that allow people to find the beauty and oneness in nature. Based in Qatar, the company aims to provide world class adventure tours, education experiences and community servicing opportunities infused with local feeling.
Founded in 2011, Entalek has served over 4,000 customers, who have discovered a newfound love of nature, and an appreciation of their surroundings through their products.
Guided by core values of passion, inspiration, and discovery, they intend to bridge the gap between people and nature, and between disparate organisations doing environmentally-friendly activities in Qatar.
Aside from touching lives, they also aim to further Qatar’s tourism revenue by tailoring their services to fit in with the National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 (NTSS 2030).
It is the only registered kayaking and adventure company in the country, licensed by the Qatar Tourism Authority, and targets six of the eight main tourism avenues identified by the NTSS 2030, namely culture, sports, sun and beach, health and wellness, nature, and education.
In their set of community engagement and development activities, Entalek also works to provide opportunities to companies to allow their staff to get environmentally involved in Qatar. They organise mangrove planting programmes where they plant seedlings from mangroves in Qatar and plant them in locations to increase the mangrove forested area in Qatar.
Entalek is also working with Qatar University’s environmental club students who are collecting and raising mangrove seedlings to learn the best way to replant native grey mangroves.
Entalek also has designed different field studies for IGCSE/IB environmental systems and CAS programmes for schools. Having the experience of teaching in schools for the last fourteen years around the world, they say they have the expertise to meet all curriculum needs.
The programmes are designed to allow curriculum to come to life allowing hands-on field work so that students can apply their learning in the classroom to real situations. Data gathered during the studies are accumulated and can be shared to help students in their in school class work.
