Humid days ahead
A rise in humidity is expected in the country in the coming days, the Qatar Met department has said.
While the temperature is likely to drop to the high-30C level during this period, it will feel hotter than that due to the increase in relative humidity, according to the weather office. Today’s forecast for inshore areas says a hot day and slightly dusty conditions are expected in the country and it will also be relatively humid by night. Slight dust is also likely in offshore areas.
In a post on its social media channels yesterday, the Met department said the humidity levels were expected to increase in the coming days due to a change in the wind direction to easterlies, locally known as “kous”.
The easterlies are likely to be of slight to moderate speed and cause a drop in the maximum temperature.
Meanwhile, the mercury level reached a high of 45C yesterday in the Qatar University area and Turayna, 44C in Abu Hamour, Sheehaniya, Messaied and other places, and 43C in the Doha airport area and other places.
Today, the maximum temperature is expected to be 41C in Messaied, Wakrah and Al Khor, and 40C in Doha.
