The Recruitment Department at the Ministry of Administrative Development and Labour has permanently cancelled the licences of two recruitment agencies, Al-Fadeela and Al-Wafa.
The department said in a statement yesterday that the two agencies had violated the “fourth paragraph of Article 14 of the Ministerial Decree No 8 of 2005 regulating the conditions and procedures for recruiting workers from abroad”.
The department had already warned the two agencies to adhere to the contracts signed with employers to recruit domestic workers, but they did not comply.
The department said the decision to cancel the licences reflects the Ministry’s keenness to improve the performance of recruitment agencies.
The Minister’s approval is required to revoke the licence of a manpower agency as in the case of issuance of a licence.
The department carries out periodic and unannounced inspection of agencies recruiting domestic workers.
