A number of hotel establishments in Doha are offering promotions and discounts on room rates to attract more guests and boost occupancy.
Grand Hyatt Doha’s Arabian Promotion gives customers a three-night stay for a two-night rate, or a discount of 33.3%, while another promotion for luxury villas, mainly targeting the local market, offers 30% off on the best available rate.
“The average occupancy remains at 62% with an average room rate of QR980,” an official said.
To entice local and foreign visitors for an authentic Ramadan experience, the hotel has decorated its lobby and build a Ramadan tent “with a great atmosphere”.
“Our chefs also prepared a very rich and attractive buffet for Iftar and Suhoor with very competitive and attractive prices,” the official noted. “We are doing a group Iftar or Suhoor package in our ballroom, which is starting with 10% discount for groups of 70 or more.”
Citing the efforts of Qatar Tourism Authority in promoting the country as a high-end destination, the official said Qatar is becoming more attractive for luxury travellers. This is benefiting hotels such as Grand Hyatt Doha, especially for its luxury villas and high-category suites.
Like Grand Hyatt Doha, other high-end hotels such as The St Regis Doha, Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl - Doha and The Ritz-Carlton, Doha also have their own Ramadan packages and promotions that include discounted room rates, Iftar and Suhoor meals and spa treatments, among others.
This year, The St Regis has built an additional tent called Al Sukaria located in its Al Gassar Ballroom. It offers authentic Egyptian food to customers who also want to watch football games, especially during Suhoor time from 8.30pm to 1.30am.
Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels recently launched a selection of Ramadan offers such as having Iftar and Suhoor at the Terrace restaurant along with the option of early check-in at 12noon and late checkout at 4pm.
For a five-star service apartment such as Fraser Suites Doha, promotions and discounts are commonly offered during the off-peak season. Officials at the service apartment said it is assured of regular customers who usually stay for longer periods of time.
“That is one of our advantages as a service apartment because we have a steady occupancy of 40% year-round,” the hotel noted. “Guests can use kitchens and laundry areas, it is like a flat actually.”
Besides the 20% discount, Fraser Suites also offers bigger discounts
to group bookings and events such as press conferences and other activities.
