The General Customs Authority (GAC) has foiled three different attempts to smuggle illicit drugs into the country through the airport and land border.
In the first case, 6.5kg of marijuana was seized from an Asian traveller at Hamad International Airport (HIA) when the GAC inspector in charge suspected the behavior of the former and ordered a full search of a carton. The drug was found wrapped carefully in paper.
The second seizure was made at Abu Samra land border when the officer on duty was searching a vehicle trying to enter the country. A plastic bag with 583 Captagon pills was found hidden in the rear part of the car.
The third case was at the Air Cargo of HIA where a suspicious package with three loudspeakers was found packed with 4kg of cannabis, wrapped in packets. GAC president Ahmed bin Ali al-Muhannadi honoured the inspectors concerned.
