The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has issued 41 consumer violations to various outlets around the country in the fourth week of Ramadan.
The intensive inspection campaign covered more than 1,800 shops that sell Eid things and accessories such as clothes, perfumes, dressmakers and tailors, and jewellery and gold, in addition to food outlets, restaurants, hotels, beauty salons and barber shops, and other commercial places and markets.
Most of the registered violations were regarding display of counterfeited products and expired items, charging higher than the displayed prices, and manipulation of prices.
Violators were issued a report each, which could entail a fine of QR3,000 and up to QR1mn besides administrative closure of the place for various periods, depending on the offence.
