The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has asked IKEA Qatar to stop the sale of all models of its MALM chest of drawers, citing their risk for children.
MEC has ordered Ikea to remove all such products from display. The action follows after making sure that the product displayed and sold in Qatar by the company is the same one that was recalled in the US market recently due to a safety issue , MEC said.
Accordingly, MEC has called on all consumers in the country to contact Ikea Qatar immediately if they have MALM chest of drawers in their houses , as they have the right to replacement or refund.
MEC pointed out that the MALM drawers come in six models and the sale and display of all these have been stopped until further notice.
