Asian Town Cricket Stadium to host Ibn Ajayan Trophy T20 final today

The Asian Town Cricket Stadium will host the final of the Ibn Ajayan Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament at 7.30pm today.
The winning team will receive the Ibn Ajayan Trophy along with a cash prize of QR50,000, while the runners-up will get QR25,000 along with a trophy.
Centurion Cricket Club and Warriors Cricket Club will meet in the final. Sixteen national teams have competed in the tournament, which began in June.
The tournament has seen “some spectacular cricket” played on weekdays during the holy month of Ramadan, the organisers have said.
“This is the second time we are organising the Ramadan cricket tournament. The participation of the teams was inspiring and overwhelming. The event is getting better year on year,” said Riyas Cheeroth, sports and recreation manager at Ibn Ajayan Projects. “We will work on organising more tournaments.”
Under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the tournament is jointly organised by Ibn Ajayan Projects, a leading facility management company in Qatar, and Pro Event, an event management company specialising in sports events, with the co-operation of Qatar Cricket Association.
The Ibn Ajayan Trophy is part of a recurring annual cricket tournament. Last year, the tournament was organised by Ibn Ajayan and How Automobiles and the trophy was won by Doha Cricket Club.
“We are pleased to have kept the sporting spirit alive in this sports-loving community. It has indeed been heartening to see huge groups of fans cheering for their respective teams,” said Sajjad Choudhary, managing director of Pro Event. “Pro Event is organising another cricket match on Friday, July 8, between Qatar Stars and Pakistan Stars at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium.”
