Eid revellers capture the joy at major malls

Eid al-Fitr celebrations being held under the theme ‘Capture Joy’ by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) at six major malls in Qatar continue to entertain both local and foreign visitors who thronged the venues on Thursday.
Many residents are also visiting a number of festival venues outside Doha such as Al Khor where several Eid shows and activities are being staged.
Speaking to Gulf Times, Al Khor Mall manager Navaneeth Sudhakaran said “the mall was packed as usual” with visitors on the first and second days of Eid al-Fitr this year.
“We concentrate on events that cater to all ages and this year, we have the Kids Circus, which has been attracting everyone,” he noted.
“That could be a reason why people were satisfied with the events here and we have a good mix of crowds from all the nationalities in the mall.”
Using a system to gather the views of visitors by asking them random questions, he cited the positive response and reviews of customers and mallgoers on the kind of events organised at Al Khor Mall during Eid.
Sudhakaran said families from neighbouring countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, have also started to throng Qatar malls.
Besides the entertainment shows, new films at the mall’s cinema have given visitors another reason to spend the holidays with their families and friends, he added.
“Shopping and film screenings at our cinemas help bring more people from Doha who often visit other attractions such as the Al Khor Park and the mangroves because of Eid,” he said.
Sudhakaran also lauded QTA’s strategy in organising wholesome shows and events saying the government agency considers the suggestions and opinions of shopping malls, which are directly in contact with customers.
“The Eid celebration is a joint effort, and as a mall management, we are part of the committee chaired by QTA,” he stressed. “We know our customers, QTA takes our advice or feedback on what sort of show or how we do it.”
Like other major malls in Doha, Al Khor Mall has been regularly collaborating with QTA to organise Eid celebrations in the country.
Each of the six major malls hosts exclusive family entertainment shows apart from the parade shows which rotate in these malls for five days.
City Center Doha hosts Alice in Wonderland while Dar Al Salam takes Sleeping Beauty. Those who want to watch The Little Mermaid can visit Ezdan Mall while Snow White is hosted by Lagoona Mall.
Cast of the Iftah Ya Simsim take the centre stage at Hyatt Plaza and Kids Circus is being held at Al Khor Mall. Shows start at 5pm.
QTA has also set up booths at malls to entertain and engage mallgoers with interactive games and art activities.
