Residents have welcomed the opening of the new bridge extending from F-Ring Road to Mesaimeer Road, saying it would benefit a large number of people.

The flyover, which was opened last Monday, is expected to provide smooth flow of traffic and better connectivity between the city's eastern and western parts, it is felt.
This will benefit not only commuters who live and travel along this route regularly, but also traders who run shops and other establishments in areas lying in the vicinity of the bridge, the residents point out.
Among the areas that are connected by the bridge are Abu Hamour, Al Maamoura, Al Waab, Wholesale Market and Salwa Road on the western side and Al Thumama, Hamad International Airport and Corniche in the other direction.
The bridge, along with F-Ring Road, would provide a 14km "free-flow highway" without any traffic signals, which will enhance traffic movement and enable easy access to and from the places mentioned above, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) had stressed after the opening.
The new bridge is part of the Rawdat Al Khail Road project, which aims to enhance traffic flow and ease congestion in the area, according to Ashghal. It will also connect the Industrial Area with the Doha city centre and make it easier to reach Barwa Village.
Among those who stand to benefit from the new bridge are residents as well as commercial tenants operating at Barwa Village. In particular, the traders who run different businesses there feel the enhanced connectivity provided by F-Ring Road and the flyover will lead to an increased footfall in Barwa Village.
Providing a further boost to the area's prospects, an extension of Najma Street - along with a 117m bridge on the road - was opened last month. As the Najma Street extension connects F-Ring Road to the Al Wakrah main road via the Barwa Village area, it will become easier for Doha residents to reach the place and other localities in the south.
Welcoming the new developments, commercial tenants at Barwa Village said these would help improve business considerably. "As road and Doha Metro works are currently under way along Airport Road, especially between the Air Force signal and Wakrah, there are some obstacles for commuters travelling from the city towards Barwa Village through Airport Road. With the opening of the new road to Barwa Village from F-Ring Road, this problem will be solved, " said Sharaf Rahman, who runs a restaurant in Barwa Village.
Several other tenants, too, sounded similarly optimistic. One of them said the recent developments were likely to encourage more people from the western parts of Doha to visit Barwa Village.
Shopkeepers, meanwhile, said Mowasalat could consider operating public transport buses connecting Doha's western areas with Barwa Village. They also sought direct bus connectivity between the Industrial Area and Barwa Village.
