Body of drowning victim flown home

The body of Indian expatriate Thomas John, who drowned to death on July 7 was flown home last night.
Earlier in the day, when the body was brought to Emmanuel Mar Thoma Church at the Inter Denominational Church Complex (IDCC), Mesaimeer, for the community members to pay their last respects, scores of people from different walks of life were present.
Jyothish Sam, parish priest and other priests of the ecumenical church led the prayer services. 
Today, John will be buried in his native parish church at Kuzhikkala, in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district.   
John (46) lost his life when he fell into a whirlpool in the inland sea, along with a few others while swimming along the beach near Khor Al Udeid area in the country’s southern region. All others were rescued by some locals who turned up there. 
John, who worked at the Qatar Engineering and Construction Company (Qecon) for about 20 years, leaves behind his wife Elizabeth Thomas and two children, Steve and Joanna.
