The Department of Admissions Registration and Student Affairs of Doha Institute for Graduate Studies has admitted 233 students for its graduate studies programmes for the academic year 2016-2017.
The students were shortlisted out of 1,380 applicants from the Arab world and beyond.
Accepted students are admitted into 12 graduate studies programmes on offer at the institute.
Out of the 233 students accepted this year, 129 have been offered places at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, and 79 at the School of Public Administration and Development Economics while 25 students are accepted into the inaugural batch of the new Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action programme.
Admission decisions were based on a rigorous and competitive selection process that assessed the abilities of each student and included interviews with the shortlisted candidates.
Selections were made according to an applicant’s exceptional undergraduate record, mastery of both the Arabic and English languages and expected contributions to society upon graduation.
Qataris make up the largest contingent of the accepted students followed by students from Morocco, Egypt, Sudan and Palestine respectively.
Out of the 233 students, 118 are male and 113 female.
Fall semester is scheduled to commence on October 2 and during the course of the semester, the institute will start accepting applications for the next academic year. 
This is the second batch of students admitted to the institute which opened its doors last year.
