The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly regular meeting chaired by HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read out the agenda which was agreed upon. Then, the Council endorsed the minutes of its previous session.
The Council was informed about the memorandum of the Cabinet General Secretariat to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce on the Advisory Council’s recommendation about requesting a general discussion on practising trading and selling on the Internet in the State of Qatar.
The Council was also informed about the memorandum of the Cabinet General Secretariat to the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on informing the Advisory Council on the Additional Protocol to the Convention on forced labour and two related recommendations.
The Council discussed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 9 of 1979 on attestation, and decided to submit its recommendations to the Advisory Council’s legal and legislative affairs committee.
The Council also discussed a report by the Financial and economic affairs committee in relation to a draft law on the State Audit Bureau, and decided to submit its recommendations thereon to the Council of Ministers.
HE the Advisory Council’s Secretary-General Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read out Emiri Decree No 25 of 2016 adjourning the 44th regular session of the Advisory Council as of Monday, 13th of Shawwal 1437 AH, corresponding to 18 July, 2016.
Later the Advisory Council Secretary-General gave a speech on the occasion, in which he thanked HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for his support to the Council.
Al-Khayareen also highlighted the efforts of the Speaker of the council, his deputy and all members of the Advisory Council in discussing drafts laws referred to them. Al-Khayarain concluded by thanking the general-secretariat of the council for its efforts that facilitated the work of the council.
Highlights of Advisory Council’s 44th session
Qatar’s Advisory Council achieved a number of milestone’s during its 44th ordinary session.
The most important among the draft laws that were discussed by the Advisory Council were:
1. Draft law banning the smuggling of petroleum product.
2. Draft law on regulating tobacco.
3. Draft law on the recent amendment of Law No 8 of 2002 regulating the work of commercial agents in Qatar.
4. Draft law regarding the human resources law.
5. Draft law on biological weapons.
6. Draft law on the amendment of Law No 15 of 2007 regulating the marketing and sales of products under the regulation of the government.
The council also examined plans that aim to improve services in Qatar’s different villages.
The council also deliberated the significant rise in rent prices. It also requested a hearing on doing business and establishing e-commerce websites in the State of Qatar.
