The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has honoured trainees with special needs, who have taken part in a three-month programme organised by it.
The initiative was in line with the MEC’s eagerness to develop the practical skills and abilities of persons with disability through a training programme, which would help enhance their professional performance and boost their role in society, thereby pushing forward economic development in the country.
The training programme was prepared by the MEC in co-operation with the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, Volunteer Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities, Al Noor Institute and Shafallah Centre.
The programme helped the trainees to be adequately prepared to meet the requirements of the local labour market.
The MEC had earlier signed a number of co-operation agreements with the Volunteer Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities and Shafallah Centre, aiming to support persons with disability and provide them with adequate training opportunities to open up the employment market for them.
