Onida launches ACs with efficiency ratings

Electronics brand Onida has launched a new range of air-conditioners (ACs) that comply with the Energy Star rating system being
implemented in Qatar.
The next-generation Edge series of split ACs from Onida combines efficiency with dynamic design, green technology and experience, according to a press statement.
The Edge series provides the “best value for money to customers with an AC” that will give greater efficiency, according to Onida, while the dynamic design includes a “compact, sleek and wholesome”
experience.
In terms of green technology, the use of R410-A gas makes it an “environment-friendly AC” and features such as multi-functionality, 3D airflow, silver ion filter and smart technologies “provide for a more
fulfilling experience”.
The Edge series uses the R410-A gas, which has a superior ozone depleting factor of 0.00 as compared to 0.055 of R22 gas. As R410A can absorb and release heat more than R22, the compressor runs cooler, reducing the risk of overheating and burnout.
Besides, R410A gas uses more soluble synthetic oils and operates more efficiently, thereby reducing energy cost and wear and tear on the compressor for more “reliable and efficient functioning”. This also meets energy efficiency standards in Qatar, the
statement explains.
The Edge series of split ACs are available in 1.5-tonne capacity with a 5-star rating and 2-tonne capacity with a
6-star rating.
Video Home & Electronic Centre is the exclusive distributor for Onida air-conditioners in Qatar. The ACs are available at Jumbo Electronics, Spark Lifestyle Electronics and
leading hypermarkets.
The Star rating system is being implemented in the country to ensure the energy efficiency of air-conditioning devices and reduce harmful carbon emissions rates.
