Zakat Fund gave over QR22.4mn to needy families last month

The Zakat Fund at the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) spent more than QR22.4mn for the benefit of needy families last month.
The money was given away as monthly aid to needy families registered with the Fund.
A statement points out that the Zakat Fund uses several administrative and field tools to make sure that the charity money collected from the people of Qatar reaches the targeted sections. Besides, it has a well-trained and equipped team of employees that conducts detailed research on the conditions and circumstances of each case while maintaining the highest possible standards of confidentiality.
The Fund asks aid applicants to submit a number of documents to support their claims. These could be collected from a number of private and public entities as well as from from the websites of such entities. All documentation should be completed for aid requests and applications to be approved, the Fund stressed.
When all the necessary administrative procedures are completed, the designated department at the Fund contacts applicants directly to inform them about the outcome through their registered phone numbers. Updates will also be provided to them through SMS.
If approved, the sum of aid will be deposited in their bank accounts to spare them the trouble - as well as embarrassment - of coming to the headquarters of the Fund.
The Fund receives the zakat of people through its main headquarters, various collection points and offices distributed around the country and the mobile number, 55199996.
