Samsung has launched its latest line-up of SUHD TVs with Quantum dot display.
Among a host of features, the 2016 range of SUHD TVs offer the “world’s first bezel-less curved design and the smartest user interface to deliver a state-of-the-art hub for home entertainment content”, the company has said in a press statement.
Speaking at the launch event in Dubai, Sangin Ha, head of Visual Display Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics, said: “Our new SUHD TVs represent our singular focus on innovation that matters most to consumers by providing the most true-to-life picture quality, with the most lifelike colours, stunning brightness and exceptional contrast. The exclusive content partnerships that we have on offer are primed to deliver our customers the very best audiovisual experience.”
Quantum dots are nano-sized crystals made of semiconductor materials. With over 150 patents on the technology, Samsung is currently the only company that produces cadmium-free quantum dot displays, the statement notes.
The technology ensures that primary colours can be more clearly distinguished in comparison to conventional TVs. Each quantum dot shows precise colours while the light from conventional displays mixes with adjacent colours. Key features of the range also include 1,000-nit High Dynamic Range and Ultra Black.
The range is headlined by the world’s first bezel-less curved TV, the KS9500 SUHD TV. With no bezel that normally functions as the border, the viewer’s attention is focused purely on what matters most – captivating content on the screen.
In Qatar, the 78-in, 65-in and 55-in models of the KS9500 are priced at QR34,999, QR13,999 and QR9,999, respectively.
Built on the Tizen operating system, the SUHD TVs make it easier for consumers to discover and access their favourite content and services, from broadcast TV and movies to games and programme information, all in one place.
Other highlights of the range include the new Smart Hub, Samsung Smart Control remote, Smart View and Content Partnerships with MBC Shahid Plus and Starz Play Arabia.
