An agreement has been signed to deliver an integrated electronic records system for the private healthcare sector in Qatar.

The project, which is due to roll out over a five-year period, has been described by its promoters as the "first of its kind" in the country and is valued at QR102mn.
The initiative will see the use of the SystmOne clinical system across the country in order to establish a more advanced healthcare system, according to a press statement.
A collaboration agreement was signed recently in this connection between health software provider TPP Middle East and Integrated Intelligence Services (IIS). Under this, TPP Middle East will deliver the SystmOne clinical system to approximately 300 primary care sites across Qatar.
The system will allow for an integrated electronic medical record to be shared across the country, resulting in the standardisation of patients' data while also ensuring that all patient information is collected more routinely, the statement notes.
According to the agreement, TPP and IIS will start working with clinics in the private sector over the next few months, with the first clinics due to be using SystmOne by the end of the year.
Mark Melvin, director of TPP Middle East, said: “The partnership demonstrates the commitment that healthcare providers in Qatar have to improving healthcare services and ensuring that reliable information systems are in place for the benefit of the patient. There is also the emerging eHealth Strategy, which will inevitably require providers to modernise their systems in order to participate in national initiatives.”

IIS will support healthcare providers with a range of innovative finance in partnership with entities such as Commercial Bank and others, the statement adds. The network will allow patients to easily access high-quality healthcare services supported by a shared patient record and a web-based patient portal.
