The Ooredoo tv service has introduced four new applications to its app store.

Announcing this, Ooredoo said the new additions were part of the company’s ongoing investment in entertainment for Qatar.

With the added applications, users can now listen to their favourite Holy Qur’an recitals on their TV using the Holy Qur’an App, check out the latest recipes and food info with Foody.TV, and catch up with the latest news and documentaries with the Al Jazeera and France 24 apps.

To ensure that fresh content is available for its wide customer base, the company has also invited businesses and developers to come up with new content for the service, and aims to invest in a host of next-generation solutions in a number of languages in the near future, according to a press statement from Ooredoo.

Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of community and public relations at Ooredoo, said: “We believe home entertainment should be so much more than just ‘what’s on TV’, which is why we have developed an app section to allow our users to enjoy the latest games, news and social media while relaxing at home."

Ooredoo tv offers users a “crystal-clear 4K service, which works with multiple devices and combines apps, on-demand and live television in one easy-to-use box”, the statement adds. “With 26 apps already available for users on its app store, Ooredoo tv is fast becoming one of the most interactive services in the country.”

Al-Kuwari added, “Our app store will soon become an innovation platform for Qatar, converging TV and Internet into one smart-living service. Long gone are the days of traditional satellite. People in Qatar want to be in control of their technology, as well as have access to diverse content, which is why we are adding more and more applications.”

Ooredoo tv is available via Ooredoo shops, Starlink, TechnoBlue and Jumbo outlets. The service has no upfront charges, no equipment costs and no ongoing contracts.
