Fisher agrees to $48mn extension with Kansas

The Kansas City Chiefs gave offensive tackle Eric Fisher a contract extension on Saturday. The deal is for four years and worth $48mn. Fisher had his fifth-year option picked up by the team in the spring. Overall, his contract is for six years and $63mn, with $40mn guaranteed. Kansas City made Fisher the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft after a stellar career at Central Michigan.

Disappointed with a lack of contract negotiations and playing under his original rookie deal, Houston Texans Pro-Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins didn’t report for training camp and is holding out.
Hopkins is entering the fourth year of a $15.552mn rookie contract that included a $3.926mn signing bonus and a total of $6.181mn guaranteed.
The Texans placed Hopkins on the Reserve/Did Not Report list, and General Manager Rick Smith released this statement: “We are disappointed DeAndre has elected not to report to training camp with the rest of his teammates. He has expressed his position regarding his contract status, and we have been clear with both he and his representatives of ours. Our focus is on the 2016 season and all of our collective efforts and attention will be centred on that endeavour.”

The NFL reinstated San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis from the reserve/retired list. The team added Davis to its 90-man roster and Davis reported to camp.
To make room for Davis, the 49ers placed nose tackle Ian Williams on the reserve/non-football injury list. Williams will miss the season after having ankle surgery this off-season.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon, who was reinstated to the NFL this week from his indefinite drug ban, defends his friendship with former teammate Johnny Manziel, the troubled quarterback who is currently out of a job.
“It’s difficult to take people inside that relationship, but that’s one of my good friends,’’ Gordon told Cleveland.com when asked about Manziel on the first day of training camp. “I’m always going to be there to support him and that’s what I’m trying to do and that’s what he wanted to do for me. We’re definitely two different people headed down two different paths and we’ll all reach our outcome at a different point in time.”
-------------------------------
The Indianapolis Colts signed free agent wide receiver Andre Debose and placed wide receiver Brian Tyms on the injured reserve list. The Arizona Cardinals signed wide receiver Franky Okafor and released wide receiver Rico Richardson. The Minnesota Vikings signed defensive tackle Claudell Louis to a rookie free-agent contract.
