MINI sales jump by 27%

Alfardan Automobiles, the official MINI importer in Qatar, has recorded a 27% increase in sales for the marque for the first half of 2016 .
This marks the latest milestone in a period of continuous growth, the company has said in a press statement.
The MINI 3-Door Hatch, a “consistent bestseller”, saw an increase of 19% while the MINI 5-Door variant recorded an upswing of 15% in sales over the same period in 2015.
In addition, Qatar’s MINI enthusiasts helped Alfardan Automobiles retain its pole position in the sales of John Cooper Works models regionally by opting for the high-performance range. The all-new MINI Convertible, which was unveiled in the region at the Qatar Motor Show, witnessed an “exceptional start” to the year with a 700% rise in sales since its debut in January 2016, the statement noted.
Ihab Allam, general manager of Alfardan Automobiles, said: “Our sales figures are testament to the growing appetite among premium car owners in Qatar for the MINI experience.”
The new MINI Convertible took “open-top driving to the next level” when it was launched earlier this year, with its elegantly stretched lines and increased sporty flair. Its features exemplify functional design and appeal to the Qatari market’s focus on performance and aesthetics. Available in two engine variants of MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology – a 3-cylinder petrol engine with 100kW/136hp and a 141kW/192hp – the MINI Convertible uses a six-speed gearbox.
The MINI 5-Door Hatch and 3-Door Hatch boast of two engine variants of BMW Group’s latest generation in 3- and 4-cylinder engines with TwinPower Turbo Technology using a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The MINI John Cooper Works has been instrumental in helping MINI owners in Qatar lend distinction, personality and added performance to their cars.  A 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 23 hp and 320Nm of torque, it drives 10% more power and 23% more torque.
MINI has consistently augmented the drive experience with a variety of equipment and accessories bought in by the premium British brand through its MINI Yours programme, offering customers significant scale in personalising their vehicle to suit their unique tastes and
preferences.
