Qatar Charity (QC) has supplied a new batch of food aid to the displaced people living in the camps of Myanmar, benefiting more than 5,500 people.
QC has been offering aid to these distressed people since the end of 2013.
The aid distributed last month was in co-operation with noted humanitarian relief foundation IHH. The food baskets contained  rice, beans, cooking oil, pepper and canned fish. 
Mohamed al-Ka’bi, Director of Relief Management at QC, said: “The efforts the Qataris exert and the efforts of the good doers living in Qatar are greatly appreciated. They present the true giving nature of the Qatari society. QC understands its religious and moral obligation towards the needy people of the world. It is entirely committed to help the refugees living in difficult circumstances. They help QC do its job and fulfil its commitments”. 
Since December 2013, QC has implemented a number of projects in Myanmar at a cost more than QR11.5mn from which 198,564 people have benefited. The projects undertaken included the reconstruction works for the affected people and the work has been done in co-operation with UNHCR. The projects also offer healthcare services, and distribution of in-kind items in co-operation with Mercy Malaysia. 
Other projects included Iftar for the needy during Ramadan in co-operation with Osman Consulting UK. In addition, some projects included distribution of food parcels to the people in the camps of displaced people in Myanmar in co-operation with IHH.  
A total of 93,722 people have benefited from the healthcare services and distribution of in-kind items that  cost around QR1.25mn. These projects targeted the governorates, villages and camps in Rakhine, which has  been deeply affected by the riots of 2012. This project was implemented due to the bad conditions of the Muslims in Myanmar.
