Quality Group International has signed a contract with Global Real Estate Company, Doha, to launch a new 160,000sq ft shopping mall in Al Wakrah.
Construction of the project is expected to be completed by mid-2017, Quality Group has said in a press statement.
The agreement was signed at an official ceremony in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Abdurrahman al-Thani, owner of Global Real Estate Company; Shamsudheen Olakara, chairman of Quality Group; Shahid V, executive manager of Quality Retail Group; Ramshad, commercial manager of Quality Retail Group; and Rayees K, media and operations manager of Quality Group International.
The ceremony took place at the Global Real Estate Company headquarters.
The mall will have a full-fledged supermarket and department store spread over two floors, with ample and convenient parking facility on the basement and ground-floor levels, the statement notes. The mall will also have eateries, a pharmacy, money exchange, laundry and other service facilities for customers.
Sheikh Ahmed stressed that extensive market research was conducted for the Wakrah mall project to better understand the needs and preferences of customers and a decision was accordingly taken to hand over the project to a leading retailer in Qatar. “We hope that Quality Group will provide the best shopping and leisure experience to the community, especially in the Wakrah and Wukair area, and are delighted to be signing this new collaboration agreement,” he said.
On his part, Olakara said: “Being a Qatar-headquartered company, we are obviously thrilled to join hands with the reputable Global Real Estate Company and take over their mall project in Wakrah. I am sure the brand equity of Quality Group International, combined with our vast experience in retailing, will help us deliver a world-class shopping experience.”
