Entertainment shows to take centre stage at Eid Al Adha celebrations

The weeklong 2016 Eid al-Adha celebrations in Qatar will feature an array of entertainment shows and activities next month, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has said.

Dubbed as ‘Capture Joy,’ the celebration will kick off on the first day of Eid and will run for seven days at venues across Qatar, including shopping malls, sports organisations, cultural landmarks, and the Qatar National Convention Centre.
“The annual Eid festivities are part of Qatar’s strategy to grow and diversify its tourism offering in partnership with the private sector,” QTA’s chief marketing and promotion officer Rashed al-Qurese said in a statement.
“Eid al-Adha celebrations pick up on the momentum built over the previous months with the Eid al-Fitr celebrations and Qatar Summer Festival, which will help to further energise the hospitality and retail sectors,” he noted.
Following successful collaboration with Baraem TV during the Qatar International Food Festival, the Eid al-Adha Celebrations will bring the new Baraem musical Fafa Saves the Forest to the QNCC main theater.
The live show follows the adventures of Fafa and his four friends who try to rebuild their forest after a storm. Tickets are currently available for purchase at Virgin Megastore starting from QR150.
QTA will also continue working with its partners at Hamad International Airport and the Abu Samra border to spread the joy of Eid among visitors arriving in Qatar through Eidiyas (Eid gifts) and information pamphlets providing them with a guide to the Eid al-Adha festivities.
The Eid celebrations will also offer a variety of daily family entertainment shows that will rotate among the following malls between 4pm and 10pm: Hyatt Plaza, City Center Doha, Ezdan Mall, Lagoona Mall, Al Khor Mall, and Dar Al Salam Mall.
Mall visitors can head to the stage set-up to enjoy African Drummers, Circus Bear and Clown, and Funny Ball performances. There will also be indoor parades throughout the malls featuring Fritters, B-Boys and the young tots’ popular characters, the Shopkins.
In addition to these rotating shows, exclusive live entertainment shows will feature at each of the participating malls throughout the week, including Tarzan (City Center Doha), Beauty & The Beast (Dar Al Salam), Flying Superkids (Al Khor Mall), Alvin and the Chipmunks (Ezdan Mall), Pirates from the Caribbean (Lagoona Mall) and Sinbad the Sailor (performed in Arabic at Hyatt Plaza).
Everyone ‘capturing joy’ at the Eid celebrations in Qatar is encouraged to share their experiences and memories on social media using the #EidInQatar and #CaptureJoy hashtags.
