Occidental Petroleum of Qatar (Oxy Qatar), in partnership with Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC), has selected the first winner of its Mawaheb competition.
Oxy Qatar said the main objective of the talent competition is to support the development of professional Qatari videographers and graphic designers and provide them access to the latest technology.
Mawaheb’s jury consisted of Doha Film Institute CEO Fatima al-Rumaihi, QBIC head of Incubation Adel Boseli, and members of Oxy Qatar’s Social Responsibility Committee, VP Human Resource & Administration Khalid al-Hamadi, PR adviser Hana Alassadi, and senior co-ordinator Naema al-Hail.
The jury voted to support “The Light” project, submitted by Noor al-Nisf. This project showcases the uniqueness, creativity, and positive impact of creating social awareness of Qatari society.
Al-Nisf will now participate in QBIC’s LeanStartup Programme where she will receive guidance to create a startup and help ensure its sustainability. She will also receive a grant from Oxy Qatar to support her further development and education.
Oxy Qatar president and general manager Andrew H Kershaw said: “We were pleased with the outstanding submissions for the first Mawaheb competition. The talent pool for videographers and graphic designers is very deep. On behalf of Oxy Qatar, we congratulate Noor and wish her great success.”
