Qatar Charity (QC) has reopened Qatari Bakery in Saraqib (Idlib), which had been destroyed, to provide displaced Syrians with bread. 
More than 44,000 people benefit from the project on a daily basis, QC has said in a press statement.  
Mohamed Rashid al-Ka’bi, director of relief management at QC’s executive management operations, said Qatari Bakery stopped offering its services as it was bombed. “As a result, bread production was insufficient, with displaced people and inhabitants of the area not receiving enough bread. In addition, there were many families that could not afford buying bread. Therefore, QC found a new, safe location for the bakery from where it can offer its services to the people living there.”
In co-ordination with IHH, QC prepared the new location in order to establish the bakery there. Once operations resumed, the bakery started producing bread at full capacity at a cost of QR90,000. 
The work included securing the bakery, maintaining the oven, and replacing the clothing and cooling line. There are also plans to change the compressor and replace the electricity and water networks. In addition, water tanks that had been destroyed would be replaced with new ones. 
Al-Ka’bi explained how Qatari Bakery produces 64,000 loaves of bread every day in Saraqib. The bread is distributed to the displaced and needy in Saraqib, Abu Duhoor and other areas. “QC is implementing this project to offer help to Syrians there and alleviate their sufferings. The project involves providing the beneficiaries with their basic food needs, especially because the price of flour is very high there and many displaced Syrians remain without food.”
An experienced team supervises the bakery. The staff members include a director, two supervisers and workers. 
Al-Ka’bi thanked philanthropists in Qatar for supporting the cause and donating for the relief of Syrians.
