My Little Pony show, a new addition to a wide range of entertainment offerings at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), enthralled visitors yesterday with its charming characters who performed on stage.
The show, which started on Thursday, will end on August 31, also the last day of the Qatar Summer Festival (QSF), organised by Qatar Tourism Authority.
Dressed in colourful costumes, the ponies welcomed visitors, including a large number of families at DECC’s Entertainment Stage from 1pm to 9.40pm.
The show also had three breaks to give spectators and fans an opportunity to mingle with the characters for the ‘meet and greet’ portion.
A QSF staff assigned at the Entertainment Stage told Gulf Times that they expect the number of visitors at the festival to increase due to the popularity and appeal of My Little Pony.
“We hope to see more families and children to watch the show in the last five days of the festival,” she said. “I believe it would exceed last year’s record of more than 200,000 visitors.”
The first six days of QSF had seen more than 40,000 visitors and QTA expects the number to increase further this year, citing a bigger venue and a wide range of entertainment activities, amusement rides, fun-filled games, and shows.
The staff noted that the diverse range of offerings, reduced ticket prices and accessible venue for the staging of the month-long QSF this year have been attracting a large number of domestic and foreign visitors, including those from neighbouring GCC countries.
Another staff assigned at the ‘Colour Your Summer’ zone said they have been getting a lot of positive feedback from parents for providing an appropriate art and drawing environment for many children at the festival.
She stressed that their zone also served as a “good alternative” for children who want to spend the day doing some colouring and drawing activities besides other activities at DECC. “Many children still love to move around and they want to try all the thrill rides, video games and drive Go Karts here,” the staff said.
She also encouraged parents to bring their children to the Qatar Foundation’s National Reading Campaign section, which offers a number of interesting games and activities to motivate children to read more.
Other entertainment offerings include a karaoke section, wider rides, inflatable play area, interactive and video games among others.
QSF 2016 will conclude on August 31 with a spectacular fireworks display on the Doha Corniche in the evening.
