Qatar Charity (QC) has organised a summer camp week for Mogadishu University students as part of the 2016 annual plan of activities for those sponsored by QC. 
Some 150 male and female students from different faculties and specialties have participated in the initiative, QC said in a press statement. 
Khalid al-Yaf’i, director of operations management at QC’s Executive Management, said: “Such a programme helps achieve the humanitarian and developmental objectives of the sponsorship project, which is considered the most important field of intervention in Somalia.”
Thanking the sponsors, al-Yaf’i encouraged “all good-doers to continue their support for the sponsorship and other contributing projects”. 
Mohamed Hussein Omar, QC’s office director in Somalia, said the summer camp includes educational activities, multiple programmes and lectures on different fields of science. The opening of the summer programme was attended by eminent persons, including some of the university’s board members. The president of Mogadishu University, Ali Sheikh Ahmed Abu Baker, was also present. 
He stressed that students’ participation in the events and activities would help them acquire more field experience. “They will participate in a discovery trip through which they will show their talents and creativity. Each student will be able to exchange his/her experiences with others,” he added. 
Omar explained how the opening of the summer camp came before the beginning of the new school year, indicating that the programme would help the participating students enjoy a fresh start. 
QC’s office in Somalia recently organised a fun day for orphans sponsored by QC. They were taken to As-Salam Park in Mogadishu and this activity was also part of the annual plan for those sponsored by QC in 2016.
