Ooredoo app introduces new passport features for roaming customers

Ooredoo has announced that the new passport companion feature is now available on the Ooredoo mobile app. The passport companion feature was designed to significantly improve the user experience for roaming customers, the telecommunications company said.
Currently, Ooredoo customers using the Ooredoo passport service can check their balance by sending the SMS ‘Balance OPC’ to 114.
With the new updates, Ooredoo app customers will now see a new interface while launching the app abroad, and will be able to instantly see their remaining passport balance for their selected “preferred number” (which they can choose under the apps settings). Customers will also be able to check the passport balance of all the numbers under their account.
All Ooredoo app users will be able to easily view the standard roaming rates for calling and messaging in the country they are visiting, as well as the networks that are compatible with the Ooredoo passport. Users can also subscribe to the Ooredoo passport service by selecting the country’s flag in the top right hand corner of their screen.
Customers who have subscribed to the Ooredoo passport service before travelling need to simply open the app and press the aeroplane icon in the top left hand corner of the app interface and check their passport balance.
Customers who want to see all the costs and options of roaming with Ooredoo can also select the new ‘travelling’ tab, to view the list of countries where the Ooredoo passport service is available, as well as standard roaming rates per service in the country they are visiting.
Ooredoo’s passport companion tool is the latest update to the popular Ooredoo app, and will work with all iOS 8 and above and Android 4.4.4 and above devices now.
The Ooredoo app also allows users to manage key Ooredoo services directly from their smartphones, including upgrading their Shahry smart bundles, paying bills, topping-up data, and much more.
The mobile app is available for free download on Google Play or iTunes for customers who have iOS 8 and above and Android 4.4.4 smartphones now. For more information on the Ooredoo app, visit www.ooredoo.qa/app or text ‘APP’ to 114 to download.
