Qatargas region’s first to win ISO certificate for its security section

Qatargas’ security section has achieved ‘ISO 28000’ accreditation for its operations in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Doha Head Office, making it the first entity in the region to receive UK certification.
The ‘ISO 28000’ is a global security standard specifying the requirements for a supply chain security management system. The certification was accredited by the UK-based Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA), one of the most reputable certification bodies in the world.
“Qatargas has become the first liquefied natural gas company (LNG) in the region to achieve UKAS accredited certification of ISO 28000,” LQRA said. The accreditation documents were handed over to Qatargas by an official of LRQA in a ceremony held last week at Qatargas Doha Head Office.
Security management is one of the main pillars to safeguard operations. Qatargas has established a robust best practice security management system to fulfil the stringent requirements of the ‘ISO 28000’.
The Security Management System (ISO 28000) complements the already established safety, environmental and quality management systems and will support Qatargas in its commitment to being the world’s premier LNG company providing reliable and clean energy.
Various departments and functions within Qatargas have previously been certified by a number of internationally-acclaimed accreditation bodies. These include the Qatargas Laboratory Division, Emergency Management Services Division, Learning and Development Department, Human Resources Department, Medical Services Division, Shipping Department, and various functions within the Safety, Environment and Quality Group.
