Doha: The GCC Artistic Gymnastics Championship 2016 will begin today at the indoor hall of Khawla School in Doha.
Qatar Gymnastics Federation president Ali al-Hitmi said the organising committee has completed its arrangements for the event which will conclude on September 3.
The event will feature the participation of three countries – Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar.
Tamim Mosaad Keraib, Rakan Mesfer al-Harith, Ahmad Nabil Mousa, Abdullah Mesfer, Raslan Anis, Hossam Abdulaziz, Mohmoud al-Saadi, Ahmad al-Dayani, Malik al-Yahri and Nasser al-Hamad will represent Qatar.
Qatar in semis of Asian Youth Handball Championship
Manama: Qatar’s youth national handball team entered the semifinals of the 2016 Asian championship after beating Uzbekistan 25-15 on Monday in Manama. The event serves as a qualification tournament for the 2017 Men’s Youth Handball Championships to be staged in Georgia.
Earlier on Saturday, Qatar began their campaign with a 27-20 victory over China.
The Maroon were in Group B alongside China, Korea,
Uzbekistan and Iran but the latter withdrew from the tournament to leave the group with four teams. In group A, hosts Bahrain play with Japan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong.
