181 deaths of Indians reported in Qatar this year

A total of 181 Indian expatriates have died in Qatar so far this year, the monthly community house at the Indian embassy was told on Wednesday.
The number of deaths of Indians in Qatar was 279 each in 2014 and 2015.
The meeting was also informed that 139 Indians were housed in the Central Prison and 94 at the Deportation Centre. An embassy team visited both the places earlier this week.
So far this year, the embassy has received 2,672 complaints from Indian nationals. Last year, the mission had attended to a total of 4,132 complaints.
Following requests from Qatari authorities for travel documents, the embassy issued 44 Emergency Certificates for as many Indian nationals housed at the Deportation Centre.
The mission also issued 16 air tickets in August to the Indian nationals in distress for their return to India. The Indian Community Benevolent Forum [ICBF] issued six air tickets for some destitute workers in August.
The Wednesday meeting was also informed that the ICBF is holding a medical camp for low-income workers from various countries at the Medical Commission premises on September 23 (7.30am to 1.30pm).
The camp is being organised in collaboration with Indian Doctors Club and Wellcare Pharmacy. Any urgent consular and labour issues/cases of Indian nationals may also be conveyed to embassy officials at the medical camp.
Besides Indian ambassador Sanjiv Arora, deputy chief of mission R K Singh and other officials also met the complainants at the community house. ICBF general secretary Santosh Neelakantan was present.
