Ashghal hands over 11 schools to Ministry of Education

Ashghal has handed over to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as many as 11 of the new 15 schools for starting classes in the new academic year later this month.

The remaining four schools and six kindergartens will be handed over to the authorities shortly. The 21 new buildings, built at a cost of approximately QR1bn, have different interior designs which are expected to help improve the educational environment.
Ashghal has constructed around 60 schools and 35 kindergartens across the country since 2013.
Recipient of the 3-star Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) certification in design and construction, Ashghal has complied with the green building specifications in a way that would help reduce energy, achieve lower water consumption, improve indoor environment, and reflect local architecture and heritage.
The construction of these educational facilities follows the standard design model for schools, each comprising 25 classrooms to accommodate about 650 students as well as various facilities including science, language and IT laboratories.
The schools also have recreational and art halls, multipurpose halls, gymnasiums, libraries besides their classrooms. The complexes have shaded parking spaces, playgrounds and service buildings as well.
The nurseries have 12 classrooms each to accommodate 240 children, shaded playing facilities and activity areas, music, language and computer rooms. Besides they have library, classrooms and external spaces, comprising shaded parking spaces, green areas and service buildings.
The design of schools and kindergartens is in line with the Qatari code for people with special needs, providing ramps at entrances and exits with special specifications for bathrooms and other areas.
It also complies with safety requirements adopted by Global fire and security systems and Qatari Civil Defense.
The 15 new schools are Jassim bin Mohamed Preparatory School, Al Froosh; Lusail Model School for Boys, Al Furoush; Al Ghuwairiya Common School for Girls, Leghwairiya; Joaan Primary School for Boys, Onaiza; Al Shamal Secondary School for Boys, Madinat Al Shamal; Al Sheehaniya Preparaatory/Secondary School For Girls, Al Sheehaniya; Qatar Technical Secondary School (Extension),    Bu Hamour; Mesaieed Primary/Prep School for Boys, Mesaieed; Mesaieed Primary/Prep School for Girls,     Mesaieed; Al Kaaban School for Girls, Al Kaaban; Al Thakhira Model School for Boys, Al Thakhira; Al Karaana Common School for Girls, Al Karaana; Saad Ibn Abi Wakas Model School for Boys, Al Wajba; Halima Primary School for Girls,Al Wajba and Umm Salama Primary School for Girls, Al Wajba.
The six new kindergartens are coming up in Al Thakhira, Al Messila, Wadi Al Banat, Hazm Al Markhiya, Nuaija, and Umm Ghuwailina.
