QU gets admitted into global top 400 universities club

Qatar University (QU) has been ranked No 393 in the QS World University Rankings, it was announced on Tuesday in the presence of Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani, vice chairman of the institution's Board of Regents.

"This important success reflects QU’s noticeable improvement that resulted from years of hard work and commitment,” said president Dr Hassan al-Derham.
“Ranking is an indication of QU’s improvement and advancement in academic excellence, research endeavors, international reputation, and local and international solid partnerships. The ranking also highlights the local reputation QU has built in the local labor market and the local society as a whole” he explained.
QU president pointed out that the national university has achieved many successes in Arabic and International rankings which reflect continuous efforts among more than a decade.
"This is only the beginning and we are keen to record further success in ranking as part of our role to develop a knowledge-based economy,” Dr al-Derham added.
Ashwin Fernandes, QS regional director, stated that since QU has soared into the global top 400 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2016/2017, it can really compete with many international universities. "In the 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings, we have ranked 916 universities, after considering over 3800 of them,” he said.
From last year to now, QU jumped 88 places which makes it one of the fastest rising universities in the region. QU gains a wealth of academic, research and institutional accomplishments that have served to be positioned as an effective partner in the Qatari society and one of the leading universities in the region.
"QU is also ranked among the top 10 globally for international faculty and 21 globally for international students which are considered as great achievements for the University this year,” the QS official added.
