Advising people to be careful, the Qatar Met department tweeted on Wednesday afternoon that strong northerly winds were being observed in several places along with low visibility in open areas due to blowing dust.
In another tweet, it said strong northerly winds exceeding 20 knots were blowing in Abu Samra, Al Ghuwairiyah, Dukhan and Umm Bab.
Earlier in the day, the weather office said the marine warning for strong winds (up to 22 knots) and high waves (up to 7ft) in the northern areas was expected to continue until Wednesday evening.
The forecast for inshore areas on Thursday is hazy in some places at first, followed by a hot day and slightly dusty conditions. It will also be relatively humid by night. Slight dust, meanwhile, is expected in offshore areas.
Turayna recorded the highest temperature in the country on Wednesday at 43C, followed by 42C in Sheehaniya and Batna. In the capital, the mercury level reached a high of 40C in the Qatar University area.
The maximum temperature on Thursday is expected to be 41C in Doha, Mesaieed and Wakrah.
