Hypermarkets ‘well-prepared’ for Eid al-Adha rush

Throngs of customers made last-minute shopping on the weekend as Qatar gears up for the Eid al-Adha celebrations, which starts on Monday.
Hypermarkets such as LuLu, Al Meera, and Safari Mall, as well as stores like Jumbo Electronics have launched various Eid-related sales and promotions, which added to the surge of customers,.
“In the run-up to Eid al-Adha, we experienced a good number of customers, especially during the evenings,” said deputy general manager Abdul Manaf KP of LuLu Hypermarket along D-Ring Road.
Asked about the availability of supplies, Manaf said: “Our suppliers have already prepared the stocks that we will need, particularly in this last weekend before Eid and in the next coming days. Our fresh products are replenished regularly; on a daily basis, we receive stocks such as juices, milk, and dairy products, among other grocery items.”

Aside from Eid, Manaf said LuLu is also gearing up for the Onam celebration, regarded as the biggest festival in India’s southern state of Kerala.
“Many Indian expatriates in Qatar are from Kerala, and we have also prepared some sales and promotions (on vegetables, food, selected groceries, flowers, and clothes) for that festivity, which will be celebrated on September 14,” he said.
For Eid-related sales, Manaf said LuLu D-Ring is offering QR100 to QR200 shopping vouchers as part of the ‘Half Pay Back’ promotion.
“We have a lot of activities going on, especially for families. Children will enjoy the range of promotions we have on toys. At the hypermarket, we also have a scratch and win promo where a Mini Cooper will be given as a prize,” he said.
Products for Eid-related promotions launched by Safari included digital cameras, tablets, laptops, printers, flat screen TVs, and kitchen appliances, as well as assorted grocery items.
Al Meera, on the other hand, is offering Eid promotions on assorted grocery products like cooking oil, juice and soda, basmati rice, bath soap and laundry detergent, chocolates, and other items.
Jumbo Electronics is also offering special offers on a wide range of electronic goods like Bluetooth speakers, printers, laptops, home theatre system, smartphones, chargers, and flat screen TVs. Other appliances include air conditioning units, refrigerators, microwave ovens, and vacuum cleaners.
