Qatar’s Attorney General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri, who is also the UN special advocate on stolen asset recovery, yesterday met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, at the UN headquarters in New York in the presence of Qatar’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani.
During the meeting, Dr al-Marri reviewed the activities carried out in the field of fight against corruption and recovery of the stolen funds, as well as the future plans for his work in this area.
The UN chief praised the efforts being exerted by the attorney general in urging states to implement the United Nations Convention on the fight against corruption and expressed his appreciation for the support of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre to the developing countries and in co-operation with the United Nations.
