The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has stressed the need for motorists to follow traffic rules in order to prevent accidents during the Eid al-Adha holidays, when roads are expected to be crowded.
In a statement on social media, the MoI said people need to pay extra attention to complying with traffic regulations during the busy Eid days to ensure the safety of road users and prevent mishaps. Overcrowding and congestion are expected in many areas during this period.
“So, we request all motorists to co-operate with security personnel and patrols, respect the traffic law and avoid wrong overtaking or using a mobile phone while driving,” the ministry said.
Also, motorists should give pedestrians the right of way and never use parking places allotted for those with special needs, the MoI added.
