A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Bangladeshi man to one year jail and subsequent deportation for stealing the money of another expatriate worker.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the court convicted the man of assaulting his victim with the help of other identified accomplices. When the victim was withdrawing some cash from an ATM at the Doha Industrial Area, the defendant followed him and attacked him with the help of others. He extorted QR1,200 from the victim and ran away.
The victim reported the issue to the police and a security patrol accompanied him to the site of the crime, where he was able to identify the defendant at a market place. At the police interrogation, the defendant admitted his crime. Eventually, the court convicted him based on his confession and the testimony of the victim.
