Doha in the grip of Eid festivities

As with every Eid al-Adha, this time, too, there are way too many events and activities happening all over Qatar. Community gives you the lowdown on the top programmes scheduled for this Eid.

Stage shows
As part of the Eid celebrations, a variety of daily live entertainment shows will be up and running at malls across the city. At Lagoona Mall, Pirates from the Caribbean shows will be held from September 11 to 17 at 4pm every day. At City Center Mall, Tarzan shows will be held from September 11 to 17 at 4pm every day.
 At Dar Al Salam Mall, Beauty & the Best shows will be held from September 11 to 17 at 4pm every day. At Qatar National Convention Centre, Fafa Saves the Forest shows will be held from September 11 to 15 at 4pm and 7pm every day, and on September 16 and 17, three shows – 2pm, 5pm, and 8pm. The entry to all shows is free.

Katara
In Qatar, the definitive fireworks show at Katara pulls in the crowd by throngs every Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and this Eid shouldn’t be any different as the night sky is all set to be draped in an assortment of soaring strings of bright lights. Today, tomorrow, and the day after, there will be dazzling live shows set on Sinbad, the fictional sailor and hero of One Thousand and One Nights, from 7pm to 7.45pm, from 8.15pm to 9pm, and from 9.30pm to 10.15pm.
The show will be centred on Sinbad, the brave sailor from the Abbasid Caliphate and his seven voyages throughout the seas east of Africa and south of Asia, as he encounters amazing adventures, travels to magical places and meets monsters. Eidiyah (giveaways) for children will be distributed during the first and second shows. Each of the nights will be capped off with the colourful fireworks show at 10.15pm.
 
The Pearl
??From 6pm to 10pm

?The Pearl-Qatar will put out a spectacular spread of activities in 1 La Croisette’s indoor shopping arcade in Porto Arabia on the three days of Eid, including today (Tuesday) and tomorrow.
Packing in a range of family and children recreational activities that will appeal to all ages and interests, the programme features theatrical performances (Barney, Dora, Frozen, Aladdin, Jungle Book, and Finding Nemo), a bubble show, a photo booth, face painting and henna stations, jugglers, balloon twisters, stilt walkers, mascots, human statues and much more. There will also be distribution of popcorn, cotton candy and ice cream.
The Eid activities build on “a successful track record of previous family events which have witnessed a huge turnout and many happy faces catering fun to the community.”  Today’s schedule features Dora show (6pm to 6.45pm), Aladdin show (7.30pm to 8.15pm), Finding Nemo show (9pm to 9.45pm). Tomorrow’s programme has Frozen show (6pm to 6.45pm), Aladdin show (7.30pm to 8.15pm), Jungle Book show (9pm to 9.45pm).?

Glow Zumba
As part of the three-day event Kulinarya Qatar 2016, which is determined to put Filipino food into the Arab mainstream, promote economic diplomacy through cuisine, and increase appreciation and awareness of the Philippines as a tourist, business, and trade destination, dance and fitness lovers can work up a sweat at the Zumba bonanza. Featuring two famous artistes from the Philippines – Joshua Zamora of the famous male dance group The Manoeuvers, and singer-actress and his better half, Jopay Paguia, who is currently a regular at a local TV series ‘Tubig at Langis’ (Oil and Water) – the Filipino Community Family Day and Food Festival will get its dose of fitness special at the Westin Hotel and Spa, Ballroom 2 and 3 on September 14, from 5.30pm to 7pm. The special event is ticketed and reservations are required to get into the Zumba Pit designed for Zumba enthusiasts.
The participants will look to enjoy the programme together and also “get glowing skin while sweating it out” to electrifying Zumba music specially arranged by the visiting celebrity artistes.  Proceeds from the Glow Zumba activity will be donated towards a worthy cause benefiting the distressed workers in Qatar.
