The Public Cleaning Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has intensified its efforts to maintain the cleanliness of the public areas across the country, in particular the beaches, where footfall increases considerably during Eid holidays.
The director of the department Safar Mubarak al-Shafi pointed out that cleaning works have been going on well during Eid holidays according to the set plans and programmes. All refuse and rubbish are removed promptly.
Cleaning works have been going on round the clock during the first two days of the holidays and more field work teams have been formed, giving more focus to areas such as Corniche Street in Doha, parks, and public gardens and beaches.
A full work team was stationed on Doha Corniche to handle all the necessary cleaning works due to the influx of visitors there. The number of cleaning workers was increased to 100 to effectively keep the place clean at all times.
As a large number of visitors headed to the Sealine, Al Wakrah, Ras Matbakh, Al Ghariyah and other areas, the department took the necessary procedures to keep the places clean throughout the day and provided adequate number of trash containers, in addition to the distribution of bags to the public to collect garbage.
The department also continued its efforts in other areas thronged by the public such as mosques, slaughterhouses and the central market.
