Celebrating the Hindi language

Like every year, the North Indians’ Association (NIA) is celebrating Hindi Diwas to promote Hindi language. This day is celebrated on September 14 across the world as Hindi, written in Devnagari script, was approved as an official language of the Constituent Assembly in the year 1949.
The first in the series of events is NIA’s unique and much awaited Hindi Diwas to be held today at Letoile Hotel, Airport Road.  “The programme is only open to the members of the NIA. However, anyone can join in the programme provided the person first becomes the member of the association,” said Sanjay Arora, Vice President of NIA.
He explained that the procedure for becoming a member of the organisation was simple hence providing non-members the chance to avail the opportunity and become a part of the larger family. Arora said there will be a host of cultural programmes themed around Hindi Diwas including poetry recitation, skits and other activities performed by the NIA members. “It gives us sheer happiness to revisit the charm of our great motherland, India, in a special way by celebrating Hindi Diwas. Hindi is one of the sweetest language spoken across India and is recognised in the entire world,” says NIA.
The celebration is marked as a gesture to augment its importance into our youth and teach them to honour their national language. “Let us all take this pride to show the world that though being far away from our great nation, we still have the feelings of being strongly associated to Indian culture. Thus let us all once more intermingle and celebrate our rich Indian heritage on the occasion of Hindi Diwas,” says the association in its message.
NIA’s unique Hindi Diwas programme will have lots of exciting activities such as skits, Hasya Kavita Sammelan (poetry recitation), games, slogan contest, family games, quiz for kids, Muhavara Prtiyogita  (language contest) and many others showcasing the members’ talents in the Hindi language.
NIA is a non-profit organisation. It was formed by a few enthusiastic Indian nationals in Doha in the year 1991. In the course of time, the small organisation has spread out to become a diversified community with a vision to ensure cross-cultural interaction among the Indian dispora of Qatar.
NIA organises several meets and events which celebrate Indian diversity. It is a unique socio-cultural organisation which is promoting Indian culture and community spirit in Qatar. It is dedicated to the goal of preserving, promoting and enhancing an understanding of Indian culture and its values among children and other communities.
Fostering community spirit among Indian nationals in Qatar, the association has grown to become one of the foremost organisations of its kind and represents over 250 families today. It conducts a number of events and programmes for its members throughout the year.
Some of the notable services include assistance to bright young students by honouring them for their educational and sports achievements.
The NIA is a unique organisation known for its vision, dedication of its committee members and volunteers, and unquestionable integrity. The NIA’s goal is to continue the tradition and provide more activities of interest to children and members of community thereby catering to the growing needs of the Indian community of Qatar in cultural, educational and community service areas.
