HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Monday held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani, during which they exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha.
The Emir and the Iranian president exchanged views on regional issues and challenges facing the region, particularly the phenomenon of terrorism, where the Emir asserted that the tyranny of dictatorships and their exclusionary policies were among the reasons for the aggravation of this phenomenon, stressing the need to address the causes and eradicate its roots in order to combat and eliminate them.
The Emir also stressed the importance of the GCC-Iranian relations based on the principles of good neighbourliness and mutual respect.
He said that the Iranian-GCC differences should be settled through dialogue and negotiation.
For his part, the Iranian president wished for relations between the two countries further development and enhancement of co-operation between the two countries in order to find solutions to the regional issues. He expressed hope that ties with the countries in the region would be strengthened.

Relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them were reviewed during the call.
