The ongoing family entertainment shows and activities across Qatar continued to attract a large number of spectators on Wednesday too, mostly families and children who move from one Eid al-Adha venue to another.
From 4pm to 9.30pm, artistes from Lebanon enthralled the audience with their portrayal of ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ in a jampacked food court at Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall.
According to a festival staff, visitors who want to watch the shows usually come early to occupy the front seats.
“They want to get closer to the stage for them to see the performances clearly,” he added. “We are actually providing (dedicated) seats for children in all mall venues.”
He also urged families to take their children to other malls such as City Center Doha, which is hosting the Tarzan show and a side event featuring a football juggler.
Other entertainment shows such as Beauty and The Beast (Dar Al Salam), Flying Super Kids (Al Khor Mall), Alvin and the Chipmunks (Ezdan Mall), and Pirates from the Caribbean (Lagoona Mall) will continue until September 18.
Besides malls in Doha, Al Khor Mall has also been getting a positive response from residents and visitors who watch the show and indoor parade every day.
Qatar Tourism Authority has set up a booth at each participating mall this Eid al-Adha holidays to welcome visitors and engage children to various fun-filled activities.
Malls are expecting more visitors in the coming days as the last three days of entertainment shows fall on a weekend.
At the Qatar National Convention Centre, families and children enjoy Baraem TV’s ‘Fafa Saves the Forest.’ The live show, which will run until September 17, follows the adventures of Fafa and his four friends who try to rebuild their forest after a storm.
Some Eid venues had to say goodbye for a while after providing a wide range of entertainment shows, activities and cultural performances.
The three-day celebration at Dahl Al Hamam Park concluded Wednesday with multicultural shows on stage, a number of activities and games for adults and children, as well as exhibitions on pearl diving and dhow-making as its highlights.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Sport, had also seen a series of Qatari traditional dance performances and side events from other groups of performers.
The last day of Pearl-Qatar’s Eid celebration at Porto Arabia y Wednesday treated many attendees with several entertainment shows and recreational activities, including theatrical performances of Barney, Dora, Frozen, Aladdin, Jungle Book and Nemo, a bubble show, photo booth, face painting and henna stations, jugglers, balloon twisters, stilt walkers, mascots, and human statues, among others.
Visitors, especially children, also received free popcorn, cotton candy and ice-cream.
Both residents and visitors will have the chance to watch the last three performances of ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ from 7pm to 11pm at Katara – the Cultural Village today. A fireworks display can be viewed from the esplanade at 10.15pm.
Eid al-Adha concerts at the Abdulaziz bin Nasser Theatre – Al Mirqab Hotel at Souq Waqif have been showcasing some of the renowned Arab artistes from 9pm to midnight since day one. Entry is free.
Other ongoing activities include aerial paragliding at the Sealine beach (prior to Sealine Beach Resort roundabout), horse riding at Al Samriya Equestrian Academy, tours at Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim al-Thani museum, and Eid celebration at the Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve.
