MoI urges motorists to park properly

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has advised people to park their vehicles properly near malls and other busy public areas to ensure that traffic movement is not affected in the vicinity.

In a post on its Facebook page on Thursday, the MoI also reminded motorists not to park their cars in slots reserved for people with special needs (by ignoring their rights) and also be alert for pedestrians crossing the road.
The post points out that some motorists resort to wrong and random parking near malls and shopping complexes, thereby impeding traffic movement or blocking the path of other vehicles.
“Wrong parking is a violation of traffic laws,” the MoI said, noting that motorists should ensure that they park their vehicles properly - in designated areas - so that traffic flow is not affected and other cars are not blocked.
Earlier this week, the MoI stressed the need for motorists to follow traffic rules in order to prevent accidents during the Eid al-Adha holidays.
In a statement, the ministry said people should comply with traffic regulations during the busy Eid days to ensure the safety of road users and prevent mishaps. Overcrowding and congestion are expected in many areas during this period.
