Attack on Indian army base is condemned
The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the “criminal attack” on an Indian military base in Uri district northern Kashmir on Sunday, killing and wounding dozens of people. In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the State of Qatar’s condemnation of such criminal acts which aim to undermine security and stability, reiterating Qatar’s stance rejecting violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The statement also expressed condolences to the families of victims and India’s government and people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Praise for Doha peace initiative
Heads of states and governments at the just-concluded 17th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (Nam) in Isla Margarita in Venezuela have welcomed the signing of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) under the auspices of the Qatar government. Heads of member states and government underlined that the DDPD represented “a solid and a comprehensive foundation for just and peaceful settlement that lead to peace and security in Darfur”, praising the steps taken to implement the agreement. They also urged to follow up implementation of the outcome of the International Donor Conference for Reconstruction and Development in Darfur.
