The trailer involved in the accident

Traffic chaos after trailer falls on its side

A trailer carrying a fully-loaded container fell on its side disrupting traffic for several hours through a section of the busy Al Muntaza Signal on C Ring Road in Doha early afternoon on Tuesday.

Though there were no reports of any casualties, it is not known if anyone was injured in the accident, which happened as the trailer was turning into Rawdat Al Khail Road to proceed towards Doha Industrial Area.
The accident led to long queues of vehicles on C-Ring Road, the road towards the Industrial Area and many connected streets for a long time.
A few years ago there was a similar accident involving a trailer in the same location. In recent years, there have been a number of overturning accidents involving trucks laden with goods. At least five such accidents took place near Barwa Village Signal alone, inquiries found.
There were also similar overturning incidents involving trailers near Al Najma intersection, and Gulf Cinema Signal on C Ring Road in the past. A western expatriate, employed by a major contracting firm in Doha, lost his life on May 25, 2015 when a container came off a trailer and fell on a pick-up he was driving. The accident took place near the Port signal on Doha Corniche.
